Guangzhou Port opens two new container lines to Southeast Asia

The Nansha government announced on March 31st that Guangzhou Port has attracted two new container lines to Southeast Asian countries, which is expected to provide its global clients with more convenient shipping services to Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.

The ‘Thailand Reefer Express’ Service (TRX) cargo ship docked at Nansha Phase 3 Container Terminal for the first time on March 24th. The service is run by T.S.Lines, primarily carrying reefer boxes between South China and Thailand. It will allow fresh fruit such as durians and mangosteens to be shipped from Thailand to Nansha in just 4.5 days .

According to T.S Lines, the ‘TRX’ service ports of call will be Hong Kong, Nansha, Shekou, Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Hong Kong. It will have a two week turnaround using two ships of about 1,100 TEU, the freshly chartered 1,118 TEU ‘Vega Kappa’ and the 1,134 TEU ‘Asiatic Bay’. TEU stands for ‘Twent Foot Equivalent Unit’ and is a measure of a ship’s cargo capacity. Both ships feature more than 200 berths for refrigerated containers (reefers).

Evergreen Marine Corp expanded its China - Vietnam - Thailand service(CVT) to Guangzhou Port from March 25th. The service will call at Hong Kong-Nansha-Shekou-Ho Chi Minh-Sihanoukville-Laem Chabang- Hong Kong-Haiphong-Qinzhou-Zhanjiang-Hong Kong. It will allow export of goods from Nansha to Ho Chi Minh in just 3 days, Sihanoukville in 5 days and Laem Chabang in 8 days.

In line with the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’, Guangzhou Port has launched 5 new container lines connecting with Southeast Asian countries so far in 2020.
