The main pier and pile foundation of the Hengmen West Mega Bridge on the Nansha-Zhongshan expressway finished concreting 24 days ahead of schedule on Aug 1, providing a solid guarantee for the future construction of the bridge.

Hengmen West Mega Bridge is currently the largest one-tower cable-stayed bridge under construction in China.

Guo Guangyin, a project general engineer, said that the construction team has worked 129 days and nights to make sure that the construction of the main pier and pile could be finished on time.

Nansha-Zhongshan expressway connects Guangzhou and Zhongshan and is linked to Zhuhai in the south, Jiangmen to the west and Shenzhen to the east. Stretching 32.4 kilometers, the expressway is scheduled to finish construction in 2024, further enhancing connections among cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
