Guangzhou plans to launch 780 key projects in 2022 with an investment of 364 billion yuan, according to the documents released by the Guangzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission on February 8th.

With 650 formal projects and 130 preparatory projects, the city intends to make an annual investment of 345.2 billion yuan and 18.8 billion yuan respectively.
The metro construction is the most anticipated every year by the local residents. This year is no exception. It will extend 12 metro lines and add 38 trains to Line 6, which will further enhance operational capacity of Guangzhou Metro in 2022.
● A further extension of 61.5 km from Yuancun to Zengcheng Square is planned for Line 21.
● With a length of 16.1 km, the northern extension of Metro Line 8 starts from Cultural Park Station and ends in Jiaoxin Station.
● Line 18 stretches 61.3 km from Wanqingsha, Nansha District, to Guangzhou East Railway Station, with 9 stations in between.

In the meantime, the construction of several intercity railways also have some updates.
● Starting from Xintang Station, passing through Baiyun Airport to the Guangzhou North Railway Station, the Xinbaiguang Intercity Railway (新白广城际铁路) project will extend 77.7 km.
● The Guangzhou-Foshan circular intercity railway (广佛环线) project will add 46.7 km from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.
● The Pazhou Branch Line of Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Intercity Railway (穗莞深城际) project will stretch another 17.7 km from Pazhou Station in Haizhu Dustrict to Lianhua Station in Panyu District.

Apart from the railway construction projects, other major projects also involve the phase III expansion of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, the Nansha Phase IV project, and the Pazhou Hong Kong-Macao Passenger Terminal project.
Among the 278 industrial construction projects, the strategic emerging industry and advanced manufacturing industry account for 128 projects, including next generation communication technologies, new energy vehicles as well as intelligent equipment and robots.
Manufacturing and industrial agglomeration development are highlighted in this year's government work report of Guangzhou. The innovative infrastructure programs will lead different industries in Guangzhou towards high-quality development.
