On September 1,2015, the unveiling ceremony of Huangpu District was held, marking the formal launch of new Huangpu District in Guangzhou. Previous Huangpu District and Luogang District are combined into the new Huangpu District, which becomes the eastern center of Guangzhou for propelling its development along the Pear River.The population in this district is 1,264,447.
The new Huangpu District covers an area of 484.17 square kilometers, whose economic aggregate and tax revenue climbs to the second place and the first place in Guangzhou respectively. By 2020, Huangpu District is expected to gain a gross regional domestic product above 500 billion Yuan, gross industrial output above one trillion Yuan and fiscal income above 1000 billion Yuan.
In future, Huangpu District will make greater effort to attract investment, technology and talents. By 2020, Huangpu District will draw into one hundred projects for headquarter bases, one hundred significant projects and one hundred projects for leading talents, respectively. Hence, Huangpu can become an area to gather a variety of business and enterprises.
Huangpu tops in Guangzhou on the number of patents, and is home to 7 out of the top 10 enterprises on patents application in Guangzhou. Besides, Huangpu leads in Guangzhou with the amount and profits of high-tech manufacturing enterprises above designated size. It has 408 high-tech enterprises (30% in Guangzhou) and its high-tech product value reaches 269 billion Yuan (34% in Guangzhou). Moreover, above designed size high-tech enterprises owns 1578 invention patents (82% in Guangzhou). Also, Huangpu ranks the second place on the science and technology’s service capacity for enterprises in Guangzhou, with 3.45 million square meters incubators for science and technology enterprises (40% in Guangzhou).
