Guangzhou SingChin Academy (SCA), a major project of China-Singapore cooperation in basic education, is scheduled to be officially opened in the coming September, with the total investment expected to reach 1.3 billion yuan.
SingChin Academy released the arrangement at the school founding press conference held in China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC) on March 21.

It is currently the one and only international school in CSGKC and a national-level cooperation project between China and Singapore. This school is the first overseas member of Singapore Hwa Chong Family of Schools, which decided to open its initial overseas cooperative school in China, against the backdrop that the Chinese government has attached great importance to introducing Singapore's top educational resources. Hwa Chong Family of Schools also include "Hwa Chong Institution (HCI)" and "Hwa Chong International School (HCIS).
The academy boasts 12-year international curriculum covering primary, middle and high school levels, providing bilingual and international divisions. In the future, the total number of students is expected to reach 3,000 after it goes into full operation.
The bilingual division will start enrollment next month and will be opened in September, mainly targeting Chinese students. The international division, however, will mainly recruit international students, offering International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.
Moreover, the international division will work with Hwa Chong International school to carry out a ‘1+2’ training program. IBDP programs students can go to HCIS to finish high school studies in the second year.
SCA will fully introduce the school-running ideas and characteristics of Hwa Chong Family of Schools. An academic management team from HCIS will participate actively in the running of this school, including curriculum design, teaching methods, and teacher training.
