Rules on temporary parking in GZ updated
Update: 2019-09-04     Source: lifeofguangzhou

Guangzhou Municipal Transportation Bureau issued updated standards on temporary parking in six central districts in Guangzhou - Yuexiu, Liwan, Haizhu, Tianhe, Huangpu and Baiyun - on August 20.

Under the new rules, restrictions mainly fall on the following four categories:

1. Limited time period
Parking lots with a sign saying full-day (0:00-24:00) parking allow drivers to park within the parking lines at any time.

Areas with signs of limited parking allow drivers to park at the designated zones only within a limited time period, and no parking lines are drawn.

Such areas are divided into three types:

1. Allow parking at night for eight to ten hours, while open to traffic during the day;

2. Allow parking for no more than two hoursat school gates, which is designed specifically to facilitate parents' picking up their children;

3. Allow parking for no more than three minutes, especially outside hospital gates.

2. Limited car types
Different colors of parking lines allow different cars to park. Areas with white lines would take in small passenger vehicles, light trucks and midget trucks that are no more than six meters in length.
Yellow lines indicate specific types of vehicles only, including motor wheelchairs for the disabled and new energy vehicles. Signs will be posted to inform drivers of those cars prohibited from parking in the area.

3. Parking within the lines
For areas allowing full-day parking, all wheels of cars should be parked entirely within the designated area without crossing the lines. In areas of limited parking, cars should park in a single row without interrupting daily street crossing.

4. Parking in a correct direction
Vehicles are required to park in the direction of the road traffic. Signs with guiding arrows or words - or both - will be posted to indicate the correct parking direction.
