On the evening of January 7th, the Inauguration Ceremony of ‘Visit Nepal 2020’ was held on the Guangbai Cruise Ship on Guangzhou's Pearl River. It is an event to celebrate Nepal's year of tourism this year.

According to Mr. Harisharan Pudasaini, Consul General of Nepal in Guangzhou, guests from around the world are welcomed to share moments of happiness and create memories in Nepal.

Nepal has seen more and more Chinese tourists. In 2018, 153,602 tourists from China traveled to Nepal, 30 times more than in 2000. This inflow can be expected to increase significantly over the course of this year. Nepal aims to engage 2 million tourists in 2020 with one third of them projected to come from China and India, Nepal's Tourism Ministry has stated.

Nepal has made progress in making it easier for tourists to visit. For instance, the visa process is free for Chinese citizens, and the International airports in Nepal has set up separate desks with interpreters.

Tourists from Guangzhou like Nepal's natural scenery and cultural experience, especially in Kathmandu Valley, Phokara, Chitwan and Lumbini. From January to November 2019, Guangzhou Travel Agencies organized 5714 people to travel to Nepal, an increase of 60.01% than last year, said Mr Ke Xiandong, Deputy Director General of Guangzhou Municipal Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau

"Tourism has become an indispensable part of people's lives all over the world. I hope more Nepali tourists can come to Guangzhou in future as well," Ke added.
