Delivery services remain available during holiday in Guangzhou
Update: 2020-01-23     Source: Newsgd.com

As people are traveling back to hometown for the upcoming Chinese New Year, services such as taxi, express delivery and food delivery become less approachable in Guangzhou. However, some food and express delivery firms revealed that their services will remain available during the holiday.

Although many delivery stations in the residential communities are no longer in service, express companies including EMS, JD and STO.Express said they will have staff on duty and continue services during holiday.

A staff member of EMS said their employees will come to doors and pick up parcels without any price increase and additional service fees. “But there will be possible delays due to the lack of workers,” he said. Deppon Express also revealed that they will not charge additional fees during holiday while some express companies including SF Express and YUNDA announced that they will charge 10 to 15 yuan extra fees.

The holiday also affects the food delivery services as less and less restaurants open on streets while more and more deliverymen going back to their hometown.

An employee of Meituan, a major platform for food delivery services, said the platform will optimize the algorithm to provide efficient services during holiday. “Most deliverymen left for the Chinese New Year before January 22nd and they will come back to work after January 30th. But we have a team of deliverymen stay and continue services, and we will offer New Year gifts, bonus and gathering dinner for their efforts,” he said.
