A production line capable of producing 4 million face masks for kids per day has been put into use in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou to meet the surging demand for children's protective gear amid epidemic, said local authorities Monday.
Three thousand child's face masks can be produced per minute and 4 million masks in total every day when the Xingshi Machinery Manufacturing Co. Ltd. works at full capacity, said Wu Wanting, deputy general manager of the company, developer of the automated production line.
Since mid-February, companies in Guangzhou have teamed up to develop mass production of disposable protective masks for children as it is becoming increasingly urgent to ensure the supply of masks for children amid epidemic.
According to Guangzhou's bureau of industry and information technology, the daily production of masks in the city reached a record high of 15 million on March 22, basically meeting the demand of front-line workers and people's daily needs.
