A total of 63 projects of the experimental zone in Guangzhou for artificial intelligence (AI) and digital economy in the Yuzhou area of Huangpu district were launched on March 31.

All of these projects, which cover areas like 5G, AI, industrial internet, and digital economy, cost 183 billion yuan ($25.82 billion) in total. It is expected that the overall output value and revenue will reach 300 billion yuan after operation, helping the Yuzhu area realize high quality development.

The Yuzhu area, along with the Pazhou area and the Guangzhou International Financial City, is listed as part of the experimental zone, covering a total area of 25 square kilometers, accounting for 31 percent of the total area of the zone.

The Yuzhu area will attach importance to the research and development of new technologies like AI, 5G, and blockchain, as well as to the construction of scientific research institutes, turning the area into a cluster for high-level research institutes in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Special industrial funds will be set up for blockchain technology to form a high-end software industrial cluster featuring blockchain in the Yuzhu area.

An area for digital trade and digital finance in Yuzhu is also planned, covering landmarks like Yuzhu Port and Huangpu International Cruise Port. The area will become an informatization platform for modern port logistics, boosting the local development for industries like smart logistics, cross-border electronic commerce, digital trade, and shipping service.

In addition, the local urban landscape will be further renovated to attract more companies in AI and digital economy to settle in the area.
