Guangzhou launches multilingual COVID-19 online courses

As part of the fight against COVID-19, Guangzhou launched ‘Multilingual Micro Classrooms’ - a COVID-19 online training program on March 23rd. These classes are presented in English, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, among others, by Guangzhou Volunteer College so as to share experience and knowledge of infection prevention and control with foreign nationals in Guangzhou as well as people all over the world.

Topics like How to wash your hands properly, how to use a thermometer correctly, and friendly tips on laws and policies of entering China were selected for the content of the first seven lessons.

Currently a total of 35 videos about the ‘Multilingual Micro Classrooms’ have been released on the domestic WeChat accounts, and Facebook, Youtube accounts of Newsgd.com. Other broadcasting channels include online platforms, such as bilibili, Douyin and Weibo, and quarantine centres and bus routes in Guangzhou.

Matteo Brandi, an Italian national who lives in Milan, watched the video about how to wash hands properly, and mentioned that he thought, ‘The detailed explanation is quite useful, especially the correct steps of hand washing. As the virus spreads, we should focus more on the ways to protect our health, such as cleaning our hands often”.
