Ukrainian diplomat thanks Guangzhou for offering support
Update: 2020-04-17     Source: eguangzhou.gov.cn

Tu Hongzhe, a leader of the foreign affairs office of the Guangzhou municipal government, met with Dmytro Kamkov, acting consul general of Ukraine in Guangzhou, on April 15.

Kamkov, one of the only two Ukrainian diplomats in the South China area, has faced immense pressure in handling issues, such as helping Ukrainians in China and collecting medical supplies to send back to Ukraine, since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

A Ukrainian military aircraft, loaded with 22 metric tons of medical supplies, took off from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on March 22.

Kamkov highly praised China and Guangzhou's efforts in fighting the COVID-19 epidemic, as well as expressed his gratitude for Guangzhou's assistance in the transportation of medical supplies to Ukraine.

"The transportation could've been an impossible mission if we didn't get support from the Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office and relevant Guangzhou government departments," said Kamkov.

"The Suikang code (Guangzhou Health QR Code) is also very useful as it has multilingual versions for us foreigners. I hope this measure can be promoted in Ukraine," added Kamkov.

Communications were carried out between the two parties during the meeting, with cooperation in areas like economy, culture, and arts to be further promoted.
