Update: 2020-05-15     Source: Newsgd.com

The Humen Bridge, a sea bridge in South China's Guangdong Province, has been reopened to traffic as of 9 a.m. today (May 15th), according to Guangdong Transportation Group.

Humen Bridge is reopened to traffic today.

Humen Bridge was temporarily closed on May 5th due to abnormal shaking which local authorities attributed to strong winds. The bridge swaying back and forth made some netizens nervous, saying it was the first time they had seen anything like that.

The management company of Humen Bridge had explained on May 6th that the movement was caused by vortex vibrations created by wind. The bridge's aerodynamic structure changed after they put crash barriers along both sides of the bridge as they are replacing hangers of the bridge.

Humen Bridge is reopened to traffic today.

Experts were working on measures to prevent similar movements in the future, according to media reports on the morning of May 11th.

On the evening of May 13th, at the meeting to assess reopening the suspension bridge, experts evaluated that the structure of the bridge is safe. The managing department has taken measures to curb vibration, made relevant preparations and finally agreed to traffic reopening.
