Guangzhou & Qingyuan jointly launch 142 projects worth 184.1 billion yuan in Q2

142 projects worth 184.2 billion yuan were celebrated at a signing & groundbreaking ceremony jointly held by Guangzhou Development District (GDD), Guangzhou Hightech Industrial Development Zone (GHIDZ) and Guangzhou-Qingyuan Special Cooperation Zone on May 28th.

These projects are expected to push forward Guangzhou-Qingyuan integration, driving economic growth and boosting market confidence after the pandemic.

Guangzhou and Qingyuan connected via 5G technology during the ceremony. The Guangzhou venue which is located at the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City saw 107 projects with a total investment of 165.3 billion yuan break ground in the GDD and GHIDZ. They include a series of R&D platforms, educational institutes and research institutes.

The Qingyuan venue which is located at the Guangzhou-Qingyuan Special Cooperation Zone has 35 projects underway including the Guangdong public health emergency supplies industrial park and a research institute of South China University of Technology. These projects are worth about 18.9 billion yuan.

Guangzhou-Qingyuan integration was put forward in 2012 and the Guangzhou-Qingyuan Special Cooperation Zone has been recognized as one of the 11 national pilot zones in 2019. The plan aims to drive Qingyuan’s development by utilising Guangzhou's well-developed infrastructure, favorable policies, scale-of-economy growth momentum, and human and capital resources.

The Guangdong public health emergency supplies industrial park is being jointly developed by China Development Bank Guangdong branch, Goldsland Holdings and Qingyuan municipal government, aiming to improve the capability to store, coordinate, produce and develop emergency supplies in the public health domain. The project has attracted more than 10 manufacturing enterprises producing masks, protective gowns and disinfectants.

The Guangzhou-Qingyuan Special Cooperation Zone is comprised of three industrial parks and a logistics industrial town, covering an area of about 113 square kilometers.

The development of the three industrial parks namely Guangzhou-Qingyuan industrial park, Guangzhou-Foshan (Fogang) industrial park and Guangzhou-Yingde industrial park have been directed by the Guangzhou Development District. While the Guangzhou-Qingyuan aerotropolis logistics town has been planned and is being constructed by state-owned enterprises from both cities.

Thus far, 362 projects have been signed into the cooperation zone, with a total investment of over 125 billion yuan. 56 projects in such fields as advanced medical equipment, bio-medicine, new materials and modern logistics are all under construction.
