The new Nansha Library is under preparation and will soon be opened to the public, boasting new advanced technologies to bolster visitor experience.

Located at the central area of the Jiaomen River in Nansha, the library enjoys a unique geographic location as it is situated at the axis of Nansha's central business district.

It covers a total area of about 11,000 square meters, as well as a building area of around 25,000 sq m, both ranking in the forefront among all districts in Guangzhou.

Nansha Library covers six floors, including two underground floors.

The library covers six floors, including two underground floors. It has been designed with 1,000 seats and an overall collection of 900,000 books, expecting to serve about 1 million users.

People can get a library card at the self-service machines within one minute with their personal identification cards and upload their facial information. After that, readers no longer need to take the cards with them when entering or exiting the library as they can scan their faces instead of the cards.

The library will use yellow robot cars to sort books that have been returned. "Readers only need to return the books to the designated windows and the system will automatically recognize the category of the books before arranging robot cars to further deliver the books," said a staff member from the library.

The librarians of Nansha Library will wear special augmented reality glasses during daily patrols, which will be the first trial in China's libraries, to see various kinds of information, such as the readers' reservations and the books they borrowed, to offer better services for visitors.

Facilities like reading rooms, multimedia reading rooms, conference halls, meeting rooms, cafes, and restaurants are also available in the library. It will also possess a special area consisting of 30,000 original books in foreign languages in different fields spanning economics, literature, and art design, which is expected to be the most among all district-level libraries in Guangzhou.
