A handover ceremony for anti-novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic supplies provided by Guangzhou to Quito, Ecuador was held at Quito International Airport on July 13.
Chen Guoyou, the Chinese ambassador to Ecuador, said that Ecuador and China have teamed up to fight against COVID-19 and that this batch of supplies was the third of its kind provided by China to Quito.
Chen added that the Chinese Embassy in Ecuador will continue to support provinces and cities in China to carry out anti-COVID-19 pandemic regional cooperation with Ecuador.
Jorge Yunda Machado, mayor of Quito, expressed gratitude on behalf of the whole city, as well as the hope for further cooperation between Guangzhou and Quito.
Quito became a sister city of Guangzhou in November 2014.
