Update: 2020-08-03     Source: Newsgd.com

The Global IPv6 Testing Center officially launched its Guangzhou laboratory in Nansha district during the IPv6 Summit on July 30th. Meanwhile, Nansha established an IPv6-Only development base and vowed to boost digital economy and enhance cybersecurity.

IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) provides virtually unlimited IP address space and a broad end to end innovation space. It’s a globally recognized solution to commercial applications of the Internet and IPv4 address shortage.

The Global IPv6 Testing Center is certified by the IPv6 Forum and it is one of the world’s biggest neutral third-party evaluation and certification bodies dedicated to IPv6 testing, evaluation and certification. It has served major network device provider, websites, applications, cloud and data centers (eg. Huawei and Alibaba).

Its Guangzhou laboratory will focus on IPv6 standard formulation, testing platform construction, testing-related R&D and provide IPv6 testing and certification services.

In addition, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Innovation Center of China Future Internet Engineering Center (CFIEC) joins hands with telecom operators, network device providers, technical service providers to build an IPv6-Only development base, aiming to boost the development of future engineering projects.

According to Xie Ming, Deputy Executive Chief of Nansha, the district has been fostering the Internet industry in recent years. It will build a IPv6 root server and boost the development of 5G, IoT and smart city with this strength in the future.

Wu Hequan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, said “the construction of IPv6 root server is fundamental as it provides necessary infrastructure to digitalize and upgrade the manufacturing industry in the Pearl River Delta based on IPv6.”

The IPv6 Summit is organized by the IPv6 Forum and undertaken by CFIEC, Macau University of Science and Technology and Joint Laboratory of IPv6 Innovation.
