An award ceremony was held to honor the companies which have been included on the 2019 Guangzhou Unicorn Innovative Company List on the afternoon of August 11th. Over 200 people attended the ceremony, including representatives from more than 70 fast-growing enterprises from Guangzhou.
The launching ceremony for the solicitation of the 2020 Guangzhou Unicorn Innovative Company List was also held during the same preceedings. At the ceremony, the China Construction Bank Guangzhou Branch launched a dedicated service for Guangzhou-based unicorn companies included in the 2019 and 2020 Lists, including 5 billion RMB credit aid, to meet the demand of these companies' high-quality development.
Aiming to promote the innovation industry in Guangzhou, the Guangzhou Unicorn Innovative Company List was launched four years ago, being established first in 2017. The list covers strategic emerging industries such as big data, cloud computing, information technology (IT), Internet of Things, biological medicine, artificial intelligence (AI), intelligent hardware, new energy, new material and advanced manufacturing.
The total number of such companies in Guangzhou is now 29 with 7 joining in 2017, 9 being added in 2018 and 13 more in 2019.
Liu Quanbao, deputy director general of the Guangzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, said that unicorn companies are an important driver for the new economy because they are strong in innovation, fast in development, and have huge development potential.
Hu Deliang, chairman of the Guangzhou Association for Innovation and Technology and president of Baiyun Power Group, pointed out that the association will continue to contribute to the innovation-driven development and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The event was guided by the Guangzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and co-hosted by the Guangzhou Association for Innovation and Technology, Fast Company and China Construction Bank Guangzhou Branch.
