Ahead of the eight-day Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, Guangzhou Metro is expected to meet its evening rush hour much earlier than usual, starting from 2pm today (September 30th). The evening rush hour is also likely to end later than usual.

With both commuters and some local people on their way to holiday destinations, the total passenger flow of Guangzhou Metro will reach nearly 10 million today, a record high since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Key metro lines in downtown including Line 2, 3 and 5will see huge passenger flows. Passenger flow control will be implemented in major stations including interchange stations, such as Jiahewanggang, Guangzhou South Railway Station, Guangzhou Railway Station, Yantang, Zhujiang New Town, Tiyu Xilu, Guangzhou East Railway Station, Tianhe Coach Terminal, Kecun, and Hanxi Changlong.

To cope with travel demand, the metro system will increase trains during the evening rush hour. Residents are advised to avoid the peak hours, choose less crowded lines, and budget more time for their trips.

The metro company also reminds passengers to show their Suikang or Yuekang codes and go through temperature screening at the entrances, as well as wearing a mask during the whole metro trip.

In addition, all metro lines in Guangzhou will postpone their evening closure by 1 hour on September 30th, October 1st, and 6th-8th. Line 2 will extend service hours by 30 minutes on Sunday, October 4th, and add express trains between Guangzhou South Railway Station and Jiahe Wanggang, which will only stop at Luoxi, Changgang, Gongyuanqian, Guangzhou Railway Station and Jiahewanggang.
