On September 29th, Guangdong Government held a reception in Guangzhou to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

Mr. Zhang Xin, Vice Governor of Guangdong, delivered remarks and gave guests from home and abroad a warm welcome.

In the speech, Mr. Zhang said that since the founding of the PRC 71 years ago, especially since the reform and opening-up, people across the country have scored remarkable achievements in promoting reform and opening-up and in building socialist modernization.

Guangdong has leaped to the biggest province by economic size in China, with its GDP ranking the first for 31 consecutive years. In face of the sudden onslaught of COVID-19 this year, the province has made coordinated efforts to press ahead virus prevention and economic, social development. Its GDP reached 4.92 trillion RMB in the first half of this year. Since July in particular, several economic indicators have turned from negative to positive growth.

Now Guangdong is taking the opportunities such as the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Shenzhen's endeavor in building a demonstration pilot zone, to continue its institutional innovation in a profound manner and pushing forward reform and opening-up at higher standard.

The province seeks for the attention, support and participation from friends all over the world to its economic and social development. And it will create an international business environment based on market and ruled by law, so as to provide quality services and strong safeguard.

Luo Juan, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, Yuan Baocheng, Vice Chairman of Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, representatives of democratic parties and government units and role models in the province's fight against the COVID-19 were present at the celebration.

230 guests were invited to the reception including foreign consular officers in Guangzhou, representatives of foreign establishments, foreign experts, representatives of foreign corporations, financial institutions, media, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in Guangdong and representatives of overseas Chinese.
