The practice of the Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation (Guangzhou Award) was selected into the Urban Best Practices Database of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) on Oct 6.
The Urban Best Practices Database consists of inspiring breakthroughs on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals from all over the world.
The Guangzhou Award, jointly set up by Guangzhou, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), and World Congress of Metropolis, has been held four times. It has become a major platform for regions and cities around the world to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda.
Nicholas You, the executive director of the Guangzhou Institute for Urban Innovation, noted that the Guangzhou Award is striving to become a database, laboratory, and research center for local governments to achieve sustainable development.
