The UN's official website showcases Guangzhou's VLR.

Guangzhou has submitted its voluntary local review (VLR) to the United Nations, outlining its progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, local media outlets reported on March 1.

It is the first of its kind to be submitted by a Chinese city and showcased on the official website of the UN.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, comprising 17 goals, was adopted by 193 UN member states at the UN Sustainable Development Summit held in September 2015. China has attached great importance to the implementation of the agenda and was among the first batch of countries to submit voluntary national reviews.

Guangzhou, a metropolis in China managing over 22 million people, has been adopting a new development concept, incorporating innovation, coordination, sustainability, openness and sharing.

The city's act of submitting its VLR fully showcases the green development ambitions of Chinese cities as well as their responsibility in promoting sustainable development and building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Guangzhou will further enhance friendly communication and exchanges with cities all around the world, share its experiences with the global society, and learn from other cities' experiences.
