Foreigners who are aged 18 to 59, and some aged 60 and above who are in good health condition and need to be vaccinated for special reasons can get vaccinated.

About 60 expats received their COVID-19 vaccination at Nanfang Hospital Baiyun Branch this morning, 85% of whom are from the UK, and some from Australia and Canada. All these foreign citizens are covered by the country's medical insurance program, so they received COVID-19 vaccines free of charge, enjoying the same policy as the insured Chinese people do.

Foreign national David told the reporter that he had been looking forward to receiving COVID-19 vaccine inoculation and enquired about it many times before. Once he learned about the COVID-19 vaccination plan for foreigners in Guangdong, he was delighted and applied for it via the WeChat miniprogram "粤健通" immediately. Foreigners who have successfully made appointments can go to the hospital for vaccinations with valid documentation.

Nanfang Hospital Baiyun Branch is among the first designated COVID-19 vaccination sites for foreigners in Guangdong, according to hospital chief Zhang Yong. Bilingual signs and registration procedures helped with communication at the site, and there were also translators to help out with the on-site process.

Since March 5th, the hospital has administered 80,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, with a daily capacity of receiving 15,000 people, Zhang Yong said. In addition, the hospital has also deployed four vaccination teams to provide COVID-19 vaccination services to 16 colleges and universities.

After the vaccination, expats stay at the site for at least 30 minutes to see if there are any adverse reactions. (Photo provided to Newsgd.com)
