An online meeting with the theme of "How can localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) contribute to 'leaving no one behind'" was held on July 8 as a sub-forum of the United Nation's High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF).
Wen Guohui, Mayor of Guangzhou, as well as regional representatives of India, Egypt, Brazil and Kenya addressed at the forum.
Wen Guohui said that Guangzhou has been sticking to the concept of 'innovation, coordination, green, openness and sharing' and the key principles of UN's '2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development' in its urban development.
"Guangzhou keeps improving its ecological environment and promoting green and low-carbon development. We are making every effort to provide residents with quality public services and actively participate in the cooperation on sustainable development with our global partners. We hope to strengthen communication and cooperation with global cities on sustainable development," said Wen Guohui.
The HLPF is a core platform of UN for following-up and reviewing the '2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development' and the 17 SDGs. The HLPF 2021 will be held online from July 6 to July 15, with various sub-forums focusing on a sustainable and resilient recovery from COVID-19.
