The Guangzhou Institute of Advanced Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea signed a memorandum of cooperation (MOC) online on July 21.
Both sides will upgrade the scientific research and development levels of two cities through close communication and cooperation.
Also, a Sino-South Korean joint laboratory and a joint research center will be built in accordance with the MOC, and technical cooperation and communication in key areas spanning robotics, intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, energy and environmental protection will be deepened. In addition, more academic exchanges among technical personnel from the two institutes will be carried out.
Zhan Decun, director of the foreign affairs office of Guangzhou municipal government, said that 2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of a sister-city relationship between Guangzhou and Gwangju. The cities have carried out lots of cooperation in areas, such as economy, trade, technology, education and culture.
