These people to Guangzhou need COVID-19 testing; some public venues suspended

All travelers returning or coming to Guangzhou from other provinces should take nucleic acid testing after arriving in Guangzhou, with 293 testing sites set up , according to Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission.

“It’s suggested to minimize social gatherings and not to leave Guangdong unless absolutely necessary. Citizens who have returned to Guangzhou in the past 14 days should take nucleic acid testing as soon as possible.” Starting from August 6, Guangzhou has allocated 34 nucleic acid testing sites with 24-hour services.

Chen Bin, deputy director of Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission, called on the public to raise self-protection awareness at a press conference to combat COVID-19 held in Guangzhou today.

As of 6 pm August 5, a total of 1,617 people coming to Guangzhou from key areas have undergone quarantine in designated venues, 7,798 people have undergone home quarantine, and 7,980 people have received community health monitoring. No positive testing results were found. All nucleic acid tests of 270 close contacts and 2,074 secondary close contacts related to the recent outbreak in China were negative.

Some public venues suspended

Starting from August 6, Guangzhou has suspended entertainment venues (KTV), mini karaoke booths, business sites of internet access services, chess and poker rooms as well as mahjong halls.

28.77 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered

As of 12 pm August 5, 28.77 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Guangzhou, covering 16.53 million people. 88.5% citizens in Guangzhou have received the first dose, and 66.6%--12.43 million people have been fully-vaccinated.
