One COVID-19 positive individual reported in Guangzhou’s Tianhe

At 4:50 am, August 12, the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University reported one inbound traveler, who tested positive for COVID-19 on the 4th day of health monitoring at home after being released from centralized isolation.

On July 24, the individual, arrived at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport from the UK and was transferred to a designated hotel in Foshan for 14-day centralized isolation.

On August 7, the patient was transferred to Yuandong Building (远东大厦) in Tianhe North Community (天河北社区) of Linhe Street (林和街) for 7-day health monitoring at home.

On August 8, the patient tested negative, and tested positive on August 12. The case has been transferred to the Guangzhou Eighth People's Hospital for isolation treatment. The patient’s traces are as follows:

Preliminary information indicates that the patient exercised protective measures such as wearing masks when going out.

Tianhe district will implement temporary closed management in Yuandong Building and other key areas, as well as carry out mass testing.

Linhe Street and Shipai Street Community Health Service Centers in Tianhe District closed today

Today, a number of community health service centers in Tianhe issued notices of closure, including Linhe Street and Shipai Street Community Health Service Centers.

Guangzhou CDC reminds, travelers coming or returning to Guangzhou should log in and complete the real-name registration process via Suikang (穗康), and exercise protective measures traveling to Guangzhou.

From 0:00 to 24:00 August 11, Guangdong reported five imported confirmed cases, including four reported by Guangzhou and one by Shenzhen. Among Guangzhou’s cases, three come from Malaysia and one from Kenya; Shenzhen’s case was from South Sudan. Eight imported asymptomatic cases were reported by Guangzhou, with two from Egypt, two from Bangladesh, two from Kenya, one from Malaysia and one from Myanmar. On the same day, four patients have been discharged from hospital.

As of 24:00 August 11, Guangdong has reported a total of 2,938 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1371 imported ones. Currently, 80 patients are being isolated or treated in hospitals.
