“In the global fight against COVID-19, China sent medical supplies and vaccines, while Cuba dispatched medical teams to many countries and regions around the world. What we did are both essential to the protection of human rights.”
In an exclusive interview with GDToday & Newsgd.com, Denisse Llamos Infante, Consul General of Cuba in Guangzhou, spoke highly of the cooperation and exchange between China and Cuba in promoting human rights and people's well-being, notably the contribution that the two countries made together to combat COVID-19.
Speaking of the impression of Guangdong, Denisse said: “Guangdong is a colorful province recognized internationally for its gastronomy and with very happy people.” Guangzhou was listed as one of the happiest cities in China for 2020. Denisse can feel the happiness when she walks in the streets in Guangzhou.
Denisse comments, the bridge of friendship between Guangdong and Havana, the capital of Cuba, is crucial to the partnership between the two peoples in culture, commerce and technology. “Guangdong people are right among the first batch of Chinese who arrived in Cuba. Now, this bridge of friendship commemorates the time-honored friendship between the two countries that dates back to 174 years ago."
She welcomes friends in Guangdong and South China to visit Cuba and learn more about her country. “We are committed to enhancing business exchange, as Cuba boasts a broad project portfolio and preferential policies to boost investment, and we will continue to promote bilateral cooperation in the fields of health, education and culture.”
