According to Guangzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission, as the fast channel in connection with Baiyun International Airport, Northern Extensions of Guangzhou Metro Line 18 and Line 22 will introduce business class cabin for the first time, which provides a comfortable experience for the business travelers during long-distance travel.

In addition, the operation of regular and express lines will be adopted in the Northern Extensions of Line 18 and Line 22. In the next stage, city airport terminal and luggage check-in system may be adopted in these two metro lines.

7 new stations will be built in the Northern Extension of Guangzhou Metro Line 18, and 10 in Northern Extension of Guangzhou Metro Line 22. New station names have also been confirmed.

Northern Extension of Line 18 will be started from Guangzhou East Railway Station (not included), and ended at Huacheng Jie Station.

Interchange stations will be under synchronous construction, including Jingxi Lu Station in Line 26 and the interchange point between Baiyun Dongping Station and Foshan Metro Line 6.

Furthermore, 4 transit oriented development (TOD) complexes will be set-up in the Northern Extension of Line 18 (Airport Depot, Jingxi Lu, Baiyun Dongping and Ma’anshan Park), with an area of 65.08 hectares, including squares, public parking lots, roads and bus terminals.

Northern Extension of Line 22 will be started from Fangcun Station (not included), and ended at Airport N. Station.

Interchange stations will be under synchronous construction, including transfer tunnels of Guangzhou Railway Station with the Phase II of Guangzhou Metro Line 14, the planned Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity Railway, Foshan Metro Line 5, and transfer tunnels of Xiamao Station with of Line 24.

6 TOD complexes will be set-up in the Northern Extension of Line 22 (Renhe Station, Fangshi Station, Baiyun City Center Station, Xiamao Station, Baiyun Station and Guangzhou Railway Station).
