Guangzhou lifts restrictions on 45 key venues in 7 districts

“There were no domestic cases reported in Guangzhou from 0:00 to 24:00 on September 7,” Chen Bin, deputy director of Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission, said at the press conference on Guangzhou's fight against COVID-19 held on September 8.

Two asymptomatic cases have been recently reported in the city, who were both quarantined for medical observation in Guangzhou Eighth People’s Hospital. They are now in stable condition.

As of September 8, no new positive cases were reported during the mass testing in key places of Guangzhou, and the environmental tests were all negative. Based on the investigation and risk assessment, Guangzhou has lifted the restrictions on 45 key venues in its 7 districts, including Yuexiu, Baiyun, Haizhu, Liwan, Huangpu, Panyu, and Conghua.

Updates on COVID-19 cases in Guangdong on September 8

From 0:00 to 24:00 on September 8, Guangdong reported 4 imported confirmed cases, all of which were reported by Guangzhou, arriving from Indonesia, Morocco, Kuwait and Myanmar respectively.

5 new imported asymptomatic cases were reported, with 4 cases from Guangzhou and 1 from Foshan. Guangzhou's cases came from Egypt, Thailand, Myanmar and Saudi Arabia respectively. Foshan's case was from the UK. In addition, 4 new patients have been discharged from hospitals.

As of midnight on September 8, a total of 3,104 confirmed COVID-19 cases (including 1,537 imported cases) had been reported across the province. There are currently 72 hospitalized patients.

Guangzhou citizens encouraged to be fully-vaccinated if aged 12 or above & without vaccine contraindications

On September 8, Guangzhou health authority suggested that people aged 12 or above and without COVID-19 vaccine contraindications should be fully-vaccinated.

Senior citizens, who are prone to a much higher risk of developing into a critical case and even death if contracted with the COVID-19, should get vaccinated as soon as possible.
