Update: 2021-09-16     Source: Newsgd.com

The Mid-Autumn Festival is near at hand, along with a 3-day vacation. According to Guangzhou Metro, the greatest rush is predicted to occur on the day before the festival (September 18) when the total number of passengers may exceed 9.7 million. In response to the surging demand for rides during the festival, the closing time of the metro will be delayed by an hour on September 18 and September 21 (the last day of the 3-day vacation).

It is reported thaton September 18 the Metro will see a peak in passenger flow, with all lines except Line 9, 13, 14, going through an early rush hour in the evening. In addition, Line 14 will suspend all express services (fewer stops) between 12:00 and 20:30 and run regular trains (stop at every station) instead to boost passenger capacity of the line.

During the vacation (September 19-21), the Metro will also increase the number of trains based on its weekend capacity, and meanwhile there will be one to three backup trains on each line to share the burden whenever necessary.

In addition to the early arrival of the peak hour, it is expected that, on September 18, passenger hubs (Guangzhou South Railway Station, Guangzhou Railway Station, Guangzhou East Railway Station, Tianhe Railway Station), large interchange stations (Jiahe Wanggang, Yantang, etc.), and stations near attractions and commercial areas (Guangzhou Tower, Sports West Road, Zhujiang New Town, Hakkun, etc.) will also see a growth in traffic volume.

Therefore, it is advisable for passengers to plan their time and route of travel in advance to avoid peak hours, and follow the instructions in metro stations in case of passenger flow control. Also, under normalized epidemic prevention and control, passengers should wear a good mask throughout the ride and have temperature measured at the entrance.
