Guangzhou and Pest, a county of Hungary, formed friendly relation on November 24. Thus far, Guangzhou has established friendly relations with 100 cities of 66 countries, marking the completion of its goal to forge ties with 100 international cities this year.

Located in the center of Hungary, Pest neighbors Budapest, the capital of Hungary, and bordering Slovakia in the north. It covers an area of about 6,393 square kilometers and has a population of about 1.3 million. It’s the third biggest county with the largest population in Hungary. The capital of Pest County is Budapest which is a popular tourist destination.
The Pest County plays an important role in the economic development of Hungary. About 65 percent of work force is engaged in the service industry, 30 percent is in the industrial and architecture sectors, 5 percent is in the agricultural industry.
According to the MoU, the two cities will strengthen exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, culture, tourism, science, and technology.
According to Guangzhou Foreign Affairs Office, the Guangzhou government actively promotes ties between districts, ports, schools and hospitals through friendly relationships with cities worldwide.
