The bulk of the Asian Games Town will be handed over to the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC) on June 30.
According to Asian Games Town Project Manager Zhu Tao, furnishing and decoration of the Asian Games Town are currently underway, and except for some pathways which are in progress, all other major structures have been topped out. Mr. Zhu revealed that the second phase of the hospital will be behind schedule due to the delayed commencement of its construction. Except the hospital, all other major projects, including the officials' village, the international zone, and the integrated stadium, have been completed and will be handed over to the GAGOC for testing on schedule.
Mr. Zhu said that the solar-energy heat pumps will be used to supply hot water for the whole of the Asian Games Town as part of the efforts to make the Games a "low-carbon" event.
