Longgui Town Planned
Update: 2010-07-09     Source: 本网

Entrance and exit of the bus terminus.

The community service center with recreational facilities for local residents.

The weather-proof corridor connected to supporting facilities.

Maximal public space from a high-plot-ratio and low-density design.

Construction will begin on the Longui Town in Baiyun District, Guangzhou's first housing estate with no low-rent apartments but with apartments for professionals who have found jobs in the city, by the end of this year. Upon its completion, the town will be able to accommodate nearly 50,000 people, about 1/200 of Guangzhou's urban population.

The project is located in the heart of Baiyun District and has a site area of 345,675 square meters, where 1,175,200 square meters of government subsidized housing will be built.

According to Huang Xinjing, deputy director of the Guangzhou Housing Security Office, the Longgui Town will be a settlement for low-income people, but also provide affordable housing, housing for public lease, apartments for professionals, and housing with price limits. The apartments for professionals, the first of their kind, will be available to low- and medium-income people and people whose incomes are on the lower end of the middle range. No low-rent housing will be built in the town as it may be too far away for households seeking low-rent housing.

The Longui Town will have track and road transportation facilities. Each transportation facility will have a service radius of less than 400 meters. Bus termini will be built in the annexes of commercial buildings in the town so that they will be within five minutes' walk from any residential estate.
