On the coming of the 100-day Countdown to the Asian Games, Guangzhou received a group of special guests who were experts from the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) and the think tank for the Voluntary Service for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

On July 24, the Opening Ceremony of the International Communication Camp for Volunteer Leaders of 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games was held in Guangzhou. The camp was co-sponsored by the Volunteer Department under Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee, United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Volunteers (UNV), China International Centre for Economic and Technical Exchanges and Beijing Volunteer Federation. Experts from home and abroad and volunteer leaders of the Asian Games gathered together to offer advice on preparations for voluntary service of the Games.

On July 25, four experts from the UNV visited three model volunteer service sites in Shangxiajiu, Yuexiu Park and Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and even offered volunteer service in "New Life Stop" in Shangxiajiu.

The Volunteer Service Department under GAGOC planed to build 500 city volunteer service sites in the whole City. At present, 22 fixed sites at the Entrances of main roads, squares and cultural scenic spots have been opened and 98 flowing sites within shops, scenic spots, traffic stations and hotels have been built to provide guests with specific volunteer services such as guidance for transportation, shopping and sight-seeing and consultation for accommodation, etc.
