Update: 2020-01-13     Source: Newsgd.com

As spring festival approaches, people have started their research into the flower markets and light exhibitions in the city, figuring out where to go to experience the most festive atmosphere and celebrate the Chinese New Year.

The Guangzhou landscaping department recently revealed that most of the flower exhibitions will begin soon and drew our attention to 4 major flower exhibitions this year:

Yuexiu Flower and Light Festival (越秀花灯会)

The Yuexiu Flower and Light Festival will run from January 18th to February 16th at Yuexiu Park. The festival will feature various species of flowers and about 80 light displays in different traditional designs.

In addition, Yuexiu Park will hold a wide range of activities including lantern riddles, cultural exhibitions, and singing and dancing performances. Citizens can book the tickets online and scan the QRcode to enter the park. The festival has attracted a large number of visitors every year since it started in 2013.

Litchi Bay Floating Flower Market (荔枝湾水上花市)

The Guangzhou floating flower market will kick off on 18th January and last until 24th January at Litchi Bay lake park (荔枝湾). The festival aims to show off typical Linnan culture and enables visitors to enjoy the water-town architecture along the river. The floating market is a unique event in Liwan to celebrate the new year. The market will have parade and river cruising as usual on 18th January to spread the happy Chinese New Year vibes.

Guangzhou Garden Expo & AI Flower Market (第27届广州园林博览会)

The 2020 Guangzhou Garden Expo will be held from January 20th to February 8th at Haixinsha Island and Flower City Square, Tianhe District. The expo will include a series of events such as floral design display, painting exhibitions and a flower market. A huge Lingnan styled ‘flower basket’ which was designed based on a porcelain carving in Chen Clay Academy will be the centre piece of Flower City Square, with a height of 16 meters and width of 26 meters, and made up of more than 500 flowers of over 50 species.

In addition, an AI flower market will open to the public at the No.3 platform of the Haixinsha Platform from January 22nd to February 8th. The market is free, but visitors need to book online in advance. Apart from traditional flower booths, visitors can experience AI&5G technologies and MR games while participating in a video competition to win prizes through filming a video with the AR camera at the market.

Baiyun Mountain Flower Expo (云台花园郁金香主题花展)

The Baiyun Mountain flower expo will be held at Yuntai Garden from January 22nd to February 10th. The expo will feature more than 200 thousand tulips predominantly in red to celebrate the new year. The expo will also unveil a new tulip variety named ‘pure love’.
