The third session of 12th Guangdong Provincial Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) opened in Guangzhou at 9:00 am on Jan 12th, and will conclude on Jan 15th.

Three agendas were discussed on the morning of Jan 12th. Wang Rong, chairman of CPPCC Guangdong Committee, delivered the 2020 work report on behalf of the Standing Committee of the 12th CPPCC Guangdong Provincial Committee.

According to Wang's remarks, the Guangdong CPPCC has made progress promoting the province's reform and development through such projects as the Greater Bay Area and the construction of the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Zone of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics.

In 2020, Guangdong CPPCC will further support the development of the GBA, and the province's CPPCC members are urged to learn from the experience of other world-class bay areas. More valuable advice should be sought, focusing on establishing world-class innovation platform and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao innovation and technology corridor.

Also, the establishment of the 14th five-year plan will be another key work for the coming year. CPPCC members should conduct research in various fields and promote the high-quality development of manufacturing of the province.

Ma Guangyu, vice chairman of the CPPCC Guangdong Committee, summarised the proposals made by Guangdong CPPCC since the second session of the 12th CPPCC Guangdong Committee. Over the past year, Guangdong CPPCC received 1080 proposals, 783 of which were finally filed. Also, 39 excellent proposals issued were noted and 21 outstanding CPPCC members were commended.
