Speaking of Xi'an, which was called Chang'an in ancient times and now the capital city of Shaanxi province, what comes to your mind first? The terracotta warriors and horses at the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum?

On the evening of September 13th, Xi'an, an ancient capital and modern city, amazed Guangzhou residents with its profound history and culture as well as new appearance for the upcoming national games.

The roadshow event, hosted by the Xi'an Municipal People's Government and the Xi'an Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, was held to showcase the incomparable charms of Xi'an as an ancient capital and warmly invited residents and tourists there.

Xi'an was the ancient capital of China and a cradle of civilization together with Athens, Cairo and Rome. It was the starting point of the ancient Silk Road. As a famous historical and cultural city, Xi'an boasts the world's richest cultural heritage and the most complete preservation of the ancient city’s wall and moat system.

China's 14th National Games is scheduled to be held between September 15th and 27th in 2021 in Shaanxi province. The nation's top comprehensive sports gala in 2021 will attract around 14,000 athletes in 501 events across 41 sports. Xi'an will be the venue for both opening and closing ceremonies as well as some important competitions.

In order to welcome to the big event and tourists from all around the world, Xi'an has greatly upgraded its sports facilities, beautified its cityscape, and improved its supporting facilities including environment, transportation, and living condition.

Xi'an's cultural and creative products

During the roadshow at the Friendship Theater, Xi'an not only entertained audiences with the classic modern drama with unique Xi'an elements "Look West to Chang'an" written by China's famous author Lao She, but also enabled them to experience some traditional sports very popular in Ancient China, such as archery and touhu (throwing arrows into wine pitchers).

In addition, the city also demonstrated its attention-grabbing cultural and creative products, Jingyang Brick Tea, dough sculptures, cotton wool drawings and paper cuttings at the roadshow. A local scholar told the reporter that he was deeply touched to see all this ancient intangible cultural heritage, because they showcase the techniques, the history, and the craftsmen's spirit of making perfection more perfect.
