Among the first ten forest parks built in China; Liuxi River National Forest Park is characterized of subtropical forest, known as the "Green Pearl Embedded in the Tropic of Cancer".
Built in 1986, the Liuxi River National Forest Park embraces an abundance of flora and fauna. In the 90,000 acres'of forest lives a wide variety of wild animals. Su antelope, deer, mountain cattle, civet cats, mount rats and pangolins live in the depth of the forest. Likewise in terms of wild birds there are : white pheasant, cormorants, mandarin ducks, thrushes, Red-billed birds which often play in the Acacia by the lakeside; stone clams, and mountain tortoise live in the mountains.
In September and October, a growing number of egrets fly from the north to Conghua, and dance and weave in flocks between the mountains and lakes. They fly in the northern mountains during the day, and in the evening sleep in the remote mountain areas near the Liuxi River National Forest Park, the Liuxi Hot Spring in the Liangkou Town, and the Guangxu Double Lake High-Tech sight-seeing area.
