South China Botanical Garden, formerly known as the Institute of Agriculture and Forestry, Sun Yat-Sen University, was founded in 1929. As one of South Asia's tropical botanical gardens, it enjoys the longest history, the largest number of species, and the largest acreage of its kind across China. In the spirit of "scientific connotation, artistic exterior, cultural deposits", this garden combines the functions of scientific research, species conservation, popular science education, and travel and leisure all in one. There are over 30 plants conversation gardens, like Magnolia Garden, Ginger Garden, Bamboo Garden, Orchid Garden, Palm Garden, Cycas Revoluta Garden, etc., keeping more than 13,000 kinds of plants. A series of scientific research projects and achievements have won the garden wide acclaim in the society. It is hailed as "Worldwide Amazing Trees Expo" and "Emeralds in South China".

"Inspired by nature", these gardens entertains people with its faraway mountains and nearby water, and verdant forests. Among them are a series of major scenic spots in Guangzhou, like the relics of the "Dragon Cave and Jade-like Forests", "Greenhouse Exhibition", "First Guangzhou Village", etc.

※ Transportation:
- Metro: take metro Line 3 and get off at Tianhe Bus Station. Then, transfer to one of the abovementioned buses.
- Bus:
(1) take bus No. B12, 28, 30, 39, 84, 535, 534, 564 and get off at the stop of South China Botanical Garden.
(2) take bus No. 54, 218, 46 and get off at the stop of Institute for Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Then, walk 800 meters to the west gate of display area of South China Botanical Garden.
