Design and Architecture

As the leader of modern architectures of major size and complexity in the Pearl River environs would undoubtedly be the new Guangzhou Opera House, with its irregular and delicate shape. At a casual glance from a distance, it appears like two pepper stones separated by water flow and two grey pieces of plasticine put aside by a child. Viewed at a closer distance, it becomes two round and smooth gravels, big and small, black and white, peacefully located on the banks of the Pearl River. The main building in grey and black reveals the modern flavor of freedom and roughness white the desert-like shape of its outside radiates primitive and brutal flavor of nature

Next to National Grand Theater in Beijing and the Shanghai Opera House, the Guangzhou Opera House, which began to operate in May, 2010, represents the third state-level opera house and a cultural landmark for Guangdong Province.
