Known as the first titled building in China, Guangzhou New Library in terms of construction design, seeks to symbolize the concept of "Beautiful Books". The plane and elevation of the building react harmoniously with Chinese Character "之", forming a unique and elegant pose seemingly piled by books.
The library covers a land area of 21,000 square meters, with the construction area of about 95,000 square meters, and will accommodate about 4 million collected books, 6,110 seats and 2,520 information stations. As the building with the biggest inclination angle in China, the Guangzhou New Library is made up of two titled buildings. The inward inclination angle of the south building is 7-17 degrees, and the inward inclination angle of north building is 8-12 degrees, with outward inclination angel of 2-12 degrees. Such a design ensures the mutual support and reliance of the two buildings while each of them can not stand alone. The library is not yet open to readers right now.
