Known as the "tallest building in Mainland China", the Guangzhou International Financial Center, also called the "West Tower", is located in Guangzhou Zhujiang New Town. It has a total construction area of about 0.448 million square meters, with a 103-storey's height up to 443.75 meters. No matter from which direction a person takes a look at the West Tower, it is like a radiant "transparent crystal" on the shore of the Pearl River, exuding an elegant, stylish modern atmosphere.

The design of the West Tower is selected from the 12 programs of the international invitation competition held by Guangzhou Urban Planning Bureau in 2004. This building adopts an architectural system which is composed of the huge grid outer tube of steel concrete with the internal wall cylinder of reinforced concrete. It is unique among world's high-rise buildings, and also the first mainland high-rise building invested in by a Chinese company.

The West Tower is regarded as the top comprehensive business property in South China, including as it does intelligent Grade A office premises and platinum five-star hotels. It is second only to the Shanghai World Financial Center, being not only the second major tower structure in mainland China, but also among the top ten tallest buildings in the world.
