Built 700 years ago, the Baode Temple is the only mixture architecture of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism in Lingnan. The kapok tree beside it, ho-hsien-ko peach and Zengcheng Kwa luk lychee are called the "Magic Flower, Magic peach and Magic Fruit" of Zengcheng City.

Baode Temple is a rare mixture of architecture of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism, which consists of three parts: Baode Temple, Cangzu Confucian Temple and Jingxing Tower. The roof of Baode Temple is supported by wooden beams. Not a single iron nail was used on the ancient temple.

Before the Northern Song Dynasty, local people built Jiyin Temple. During Yuan Dynasty, it was rebuilt as Cangzu Confucian Temple. In the first year of Emperor Hongwu's reign in Ming Dynasty, Jingxing Tower was added and Baode Temple in the 18th year of Emperor Hongwu's reign.

Therefore, the Cangzu Confucian Temple had a history of over 700 years, Jingxing Tower 600 years and Baode Temple 400 years. In the ancient temples, there built "Wude Pavilion", "Hongsheng Hall", "Yingchuan Hall", and other halls with many statues of immortals or Buddha. Inside the Cangzu Confucian Temple, there are still poems, including Summer Clouds on Maofeng Mountain written by imperial scholar Li Xiaolong in the reign of Emperor Xianchun of Song Dynasty, Spring Water of Lang Lake, Fishing at the Stone Pond and so on by the "Five Talented Scholars" of Tingyu (Rain Rhythm) Pavilion at the end of Yuan Dynasty.

There was an ancient well and a kapok tree with sparse branches, leaves and flowers. This well was said to be dug by ho-hsien-ko. In the past, the villagers in the neighborhood lived a hard life. The maiden Ma Gu and the villagers collected the kapok and took well water to make soups. The kapok tree was said to have been planted when the temple was built. There was a time when the temple was destroyed, the kapok tree withered. A villager wanted to cut the tree for repairing the temple. However, his axe was bounced back and his arm swelled for a month. After that, no one dared to touch the tree. Later, the tree revived. According to the principal of Xiaolou Town, the kapok tree, ho-hsien-ko peach and Zengcheng Kwa luk lychee are called the "Magic Flower, Magic peach and Magic Fruit" of Zengcheng City.
