The 14th Pan Pearl River Delta (PPRD) Regional Cooperation and Development Forum opened in Guangzhou on July 14. During the forum, a special report on inter-provincial border cooperation in the PPRD was issued to provide suggestions for promoting coordinated regional development.

With the theme of "Deepening cooperation in inter-provincial border areas to promote coordinated development in PPRD region," the forum attracted over 200 guests including government officials, representatives of enterprises and business associations as well as media practitioners from the PPRD members.

The regional economy in the PPRD is growing rapidly with improving cooperation in fields such as industries, market system, infrastructure network and environmental protection, said Chen Xuanqing, a consultant of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, when delivering the special report on inter-provincial border cooperation in the PPRD.

According to Chen, the forum's theme is coincident with the focus of regional development in the PPRD, also marks the PPRD has entered a new stage of development.

Chen suggested that the development of the inter-provincial border areas of the PPRD should learn from the experience of regional integration in the Yangtze River Delta and the Tongzhou-Wuqing-Langfang area of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei. Since these areas have established many effective cooperation mechanisms in transportation connectivity, industrial cooperation and institutional innovation.

During the forum, six guests including Fan Hengshan, former Deputy Secretary-General of the National Development and Reform Commission and Fan Gang, Vice President of the China Society Economic Reform, delivered speeches on accelerating the construction of a new development pattern, building a unified market, promoting the integrated development of inter-provincial border cooperation in the PPRD, and other issues.
