The Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs invited Marianna Karageorgis, press officer for the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), to lead a delegation of journalists from CNA, Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, Sigma TV, Philenews, Politis.com.cyand Cyprus Mail to Guangzhou from July 13 to July 15.

The delegation met with the Guangzhou Foreign Affairs Office and discussed furthering the friendly relationship between Guangzhou and Ayia Napa through cooperation in variousfields.

To learn more about Guangzhou's water treatment, the delegation visited the Nansha Wetland and the Lijiao Sewage Treatment Plant. They visited Yong Qing Fang and the Cantonese Opera Art Museum in the Liwan District, as well as Flower City Square and the Canton Tower in the Tianhe District, to get a sense of the city's modernity and traditional culture.

The delegation spoke highly of Guangzhou's urban governance capabilities.

The Republic of Cyprusis located in the northeastern Mediterranean Sea. China established diplomatic relations with Cyprus in 1971. Guangzhou and Ayia Napa City established a Friendly City relationship in 2018, with close exchanges in the fields of investment and trade, education, culture and tourism.
