Guangzhou-Port Moresby route to be launched on Dec. 20

China Southern Airlines will open a route from Guangzhou to Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea, on December 20. It will be the first regular commercial route from the Chinese mainland to the South Pacific island country.

The route will be operated with Boeing 737-8 aircraft once a week. It will depart every Wednesday at 01:00 (Beijing time) from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, and arrive at the Port Moresby Airport at 10:15 (local time). The return flight will depart every Thursday at 09:00 (local time) from Port Moresby Airport, and arrive in Guangzhou at 14:15 (Beijing time). The flying time is about 7 hours and 15 minutes.

Passengers from Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing and other cities to Port Moresby can complete two-way transfer within three hours at Baiyun Airport, while those from Xiamen, Fuzhou and other cities can complete two-way transfer within five hours.

After arriving at the Port Moresby Airport, passengers can also take local airline flights to other places in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Fiji, and more.

To meet the needs of local Chinese and overseas Chinese visiting their families during the Christmas holiday, the first flight will be operated with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
