About 1500 "Little Giant" enterprises in Guangdong, which are leading small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that produce unique and novel products with specialized and sophisticated technologies, have attracted more than 100 billion RMB of public investment over the past two years, according to a report recently released by the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Guangzhou.

Guangdong's "Little Giant" enterprises in the sectors of the new generation information technology, intelligent manufacturing of high-end equipment, new materials, energy-saving, and new energy vehicles account for about 80%. "The strategic industrial clusters have, therefore, become the cornerstone of the manufacturing industry in Guangdong," said Wang Bin, General Manager of PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting Services (Guangdong) Co., Ltd.

As of July 2023, there are 1525 "Little Giant" enterprises in Guangdong, 80% of which are located in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Foshan. Additionally, 752 of these enterprises are in Shenzhen, accounting for more than half, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China.

The report by PwC noted that "Little Giant" enterprises in the semiconductor and new energy vehicles industry are the most attractive to capital. According to CV Source's public financing statistics, the total value of public financing and fundraising for Guangdong's "Little Giant" enterprises exceeded 100 billion RMB during 2022 to 2023.

Wang said that Guangdong could set up a special fund to cultivate local enterprises through investment and incubation, helping them expand the market and achieve rapid growth by connecting with more industrial chain resources.
