Consular Corps explore international cooperation chance in GZ's Panyu

Officials from the consulates general of 30 countries in Guangzhou visited the Panyu District of Guangzhou City on April 18, aiming to explore its industrial development, business environment, and culture for international exchanges.

Huang Biao, Secretary of the CPC Panyu District Committee, introduced that the district implements the system of pre-establishment national treatment and the negative list for foreign investment. At present, Panyu is home to 8,831 international residents, with 6,760 enterprises established in the district by investors from 87 countries and regions. The district now boasts a total of 409,000 market entities, including two of the world's top three cross-border e-commerce giants, SHEIN and TEMU.

Golden Sea Company

"We were fascinated by the tour this morning in the Golden Sea Company, which represents one of the most valuable brands in China's performing arts equipment and has been supporting the cultural activities of the G20 Summit in Hangzhou," said Yamileth Ye Li, Consul General of Panama in Guangzhou. She believes that the development of technologies applied is impressive.

Wim Peeters, Consul General of Belgium in Guangzhou, told GDToday that there is good cooperation between Golden Sea and Belgian entrepreneurs, who have come here to invest in the Chinese markets. Belgian entrepreneurs are happy to cooperate with enterprises due to the opportunities and industrial foundation here.

GAC Aion factory

In the afternoon, the Consular Corps visited the GAC Aion factory, which stands as the world's only "lighthouse factory" for new energy vehicles. Established in 2017 as Guangzhou Automobile Group's subsidiary focusing on new energy vehicles, GAC AION identified Thailand as its inaugural international venture in September 2023. The construction of GAC AION's first overseas production site in Thailand was initiated this year, with a substantial investment of 2.3 billion Thai Baht (approximately RMB 465 million).

Porpot Changyawa, Deputy Consul General of Thailand in Guangzhou, said the production site in Thailand will contribute to its sales to the Southeast Asian markets.

"There is a significant amount of existing cooperation between German and Guangdong enterprises," said Jana Ludwig, Deputy Consul General of Germany in Guangzhou. She expressed her expectation of more cooperation on new energy vehicles and the autonomous driving sector.

The event was jointly held by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangzhou Municipality and the Panyu District People's Government of Guangzhou Municipality.
