7.665 Million PCR Tests Conducted across Guangzhou

Three-Tier Medical Service System Launched

Medical Services for Residents in Controlled Areas

To date, 16 infections have been reported in this outbreak, involving multiple venues across a large area; some patients have transmitted the virus to their family members. To quickly curb the spread, we are working around the clock to carry out PCR testing, epidemiological investigation, screening, quarantine, and other control measures. A total of 85 locations in 7 districts were identified as key sites; more than 5,300 people were identified as key populations, all of whom have been put under health monitoring management. From 8:00 on August 31 to 8:00 on September 1, 7.665 million PCR tests were taken across the city; except for the infected cases announced today, all other results were negative.

To ensure medical services for residents in the controlled areas, a three-tier medical service system has been rapidly launched based on the medical service support plan and a preliminary population survey.

The "three-person teams" provide phone medical consultation and medicine delivery services to residents in need.

Community health service centers provide basic medical services for common diseases.

Guangdong No.2 Provincial People's Hospital and Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University are designated hospitals to provide services to hemodialysis, psychiatric and psychological patients, pregnant women, and those with cancer or other severe and difficult illnesses.

Mobile medical points have been set up in the controlled areas, with a 24-hour pre-hospital aid and transfer channel.

For residents in the controlled areas, please call 120 immediately in case of emergency, such as cardiovascular accidents, burns, or parturiency. For other medical requests, you may dial the service hotline of your subdistrict or that of the primary healthcare institution, and follow the staff's instructions. Alternatively, you may contact the "three-person team" of your community.

The Fight Against COVID-19 Requires Residents' Cooperation

In the following days, we will make responsive adjustments to the controlled area coverage and control measures based on the epidemic development. To bring life back to normal as soon as possible, we urge all residents in the controlled areas to coordinate with the local COVID-19 measures.

I. Get tested as required. Stay informed of the notifications issued by subdistricts and communities and go to a nearby testing site in an orderly manner with proper self-protection measures. Please notify on-site staff before testing if you: 1. have symptoms like fever (≥ 37.3 °C), dry cough, sore throat, etc.; 2. have a yellow health code; 3. have been to key sites during the risk periods; 4. have been infected with COVID-19 before. For residents in low-risk areas, please show your PCR test result, scan the venue code, and have your temperature taken as required when entering public facilities.

II. Monitor your health. Pay close attention to your everyday health condition. Do not go to work or school, enter public venues, or use public transportation if symptoms develop, such as fever (≥ 37.3 °C), dry cough, fatigue, sore throat, nasal congestion, runny nose, decreased sense of smell (taste), conjunctivitis, muscle soreness, and diarrhea. In these situations, it is a must to wear a mask properly and seek medical care at the nearest hospital promptly.

III. Follow arrival protocols. If you are coming/returning to Guangzhou, please report your information in advance via the "Arrival Declaration" on Suikang or Guangzhou Health mini-programs.

If you have been to any high- or medium-risk areas in the past 7 days, you are required to go through a 7-day centralized quarantine and 7-day home quarantine.

If you have been to low-risk areas in the past 7 days, you shall take 2 tests within 3 days (at least 24 hours apart) after arriving in Guangzhou.

Inbound travelers from areas with a high risk of community transmission shall go through 3-day home health monitoring after arriving in Guangzhou. During this period, please avoid going to crowded places and taking public transportation; pay close attention to your health condition and seek medical advice when symptoms develop.

We urge all residents to take the responsibility for their own health and stay with us in the fight against COVID-19. For everyone's health and safety, we are doing everything we can to stabilize the situation at the least cost and in the shortest possible time.
